Profile of the Artist, Mimi Ross BlankI have been creating custom, hand painted ceramic tiles for about 20 years now and I can certainly say that it is my passion. My background is in Fine Art. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Painting in 1989. In addition, I have an Associate of Applied Science degree in Graphic Design, as well as many awards and honors in my field. I paint each ceramic tile individually by hand, then fire the entire ceramic art mural at close to 1900 degrees F. in one of my kilns. The glazes actually melt into the tile and become as hard and impervious as the original tile. I am self-taught when it comes to working with tiles and I use a variety of different glazes and techniques. I am always eager to work closely with the client so that his or her expectations are rewarded in the final mural. Not one of my customers has ever been less than thrilled with my work. I live in Washington state with my husband, two children (ages 14 and 11), 2 horses, huge Great Pyrenees mix, Lab/Chow/Shepherd mix and twelve chickens. I am particularly enjoy painting animals, landscapes, and anything unusual! |
